I'm sure it differs from bank to bank, but what does an average intern do at an IB? Is it actual work or is it picking up lunches/dry cleaning for the seniors? Are you assigned a division or can you pick?

    Cheers.

bit of both. the goal to see whether you are 1) not stupid enough for the job. 2) willingness/attitude to work 3) whether people like u

generally pick your prefences and then HR will assign you based on your interests/skills/availability.

thanks for the reply, may seem like a stupid question but if one's internship was successful and they were offered a place on a grad scheme it would be for the division they interned for? or are grad schemes general, as in candidates work throughout the bank for the length of the scheme?

yes generally the desk they were interning on hires them unless it's a rotational grad sceme programme working on various desks within a division
