When to wear lifting belt Watch

Two questions, I've had some answers from generous people in this forum but more advice can't help

    (a) when should I start wearing a belt? Straight away? I want my deadlift/squat as strong as I can, so I'm guessing straight away. I just feel a bit silly wearing a belt when I can't even squat 100kg atm.

    (b) when I've decided to start wearing, for what sets should I wear it? Just work sets, last warm up and then work sets, only PR sets etc. etc.?

    Advice much appreciated

I would normally wear it after a few warm up sets, if my working weight is around 130 kg, I'd belt up around the 100 kg just to get used to it.

For reference my warm ups would be 60, 80, 100, 120... whatever works for each person I guess.

    Personal opinion:

    Squat: work sets >~130KG

    Deadlifts: Never

Wear it when you feel like it might be useful. As a general rule, though, for a healthy male this probably won't be when you're squatting under two plates for sets of five.

Wear it for work sets. A lot of more advanced lifters wear it for their later work sets too. But I just wear it for my work sets, because I'm not lifting that heavy.
