Hi I am facing a bit of problem here, I am 16 years old and my youngest and only brother who is 12 has asked me that he would like me to buy his clothes for him because mom apparently is not letting pick and choice the clothes he wants to wear, he wants me to buy him some different underwear, he wears briefs and he wants to wear boxer shorts, he says mom will only buy briefs and she said he is too young to wear boxers and choice his own clothes, now although I understand that he is 12 he is not a little boy now nearly a teenager surely he would like to be having some say about what he can wear, I said to him I will think about it, I mean I want him to be happy but I am lost whether I should buy some clothes and different underwear for him, or as his older sister ask my mom and tell her he is upset about the situation or would that make the situation worse, I mean it is important he respects and obeys his moms wishes and she is the one who feeds and clothes him with her own money, I am stuck any help shall all I leave it and let mom decide on when she thinks he can buy his own clothes?

Is your 12 year old brother @james.mead by any chance?

It's difficult because it will cause tension either way, but I think your mum seriously needs to get a grip, so in that situation I would take that battle into my own hands and buy something different.

I'm an adult and I still get my sis to help me pick clothes. Just cause she knows what's in fashion more than I do as well as knowing what girls our age generally like to see on guys atm.

I don't see the problem. I regularly buy whatever my lil bro want me to buy him...without asking my mother beforehand.
Then if she don't approve, so be it.

can't your mum give you the clothes money (for his clothes allowance) and then go clothes shopping with him... just let him pick the stuff he likes and ensure he tries them on before you buy them.
alternatively is he responsible enough to go clothes shopping with his friends?

He's still a young child, he should be living by the rules his parents have set.
