I've found that many South Asian/Arab guys are (usually) very family orientated. And I'm not. I get on well with my parents and siblings but they're the only people I consider to be family. It's not that I dislike or hate my extended family, I'm just indifferent to them. I hate family gatherings (weddings, dinner parties etc) with a passion, however, and avoid them all.
I expect many South Asian and Arab guys will be expecting their future gf/spouse to be involved with his side of the family. I also know many expect their future wives to live with/close to their parents and that their families tend to be very close knit.
So would you be put off by someone who isn't family orientated? If yes, why?
