    Both parents were British [English] and three of my grandparents. My paternal grandfather was Irish. I've lived in Ireland for the last 17 years, but I still have an English accent. Was hoping i'd have lost it by now, but I guess at this stage that's not going to happen. My son speaks with a Mancunian/Northern Ireland accent. My sister in Manchester on the phone to him can only understand what he's saying if he speaks really slowly, and vice versa and my son's mates, with their thick Newry accents, think he sounds like a Manc. But trust me, his Manchester accent is very watered down.
