According to Wikipedia, there are a lot of films based on historical events. Some of which I wasn't aware were based on real events.

So, what are your favourite films based on real events?

    I quite enjoyed 12 years a slave.

    I have never seen Titanic!

I'm very much a fan of the war films like the Battle of Britain & The Longest Day. Absolute classics.

The Book Thief is based on the Nazis burning literature they deemed non-Nazi or written by people that the Nazis basically didn't like. It's not an actual event but on events that occurred at that time.

Outlander series is one of my favorites but its not a movie. Film-wise it would have to be Memoirs of a Geisha, War Horse or Private Peaceful.
