    Hi Everyone,

My current status is that I've passed my medical and I'm just waiting on a date for OASC. I've been doing my research for all stages of OASC, IOT and the Engineering Officer (AS) specialism training however, a few questions have cropped up which I'm struggling to find online and I'm looking to cross them off on the student room instead of bombarding the AFCO.

    So to get started:

    1. My current understanding of the RAF structure is as follows
    Armed forces > RAF > Group > EAW > Squadrons > Aircraft

However, I'm unsure if the squadrons slots under EAW or aligned with it as below:

    Armed forces > RAF > Group > EAW / Squadrons > Aircraft

The main reason being is that not all squadrons would be assigned to a EAW however, you may get multiple squadrons withi an EAW. If someone could confirm this it would be great.

    2. What's the difference between an operational deployment and a detachment?

    3. Within my filter interview they highlighted I hadn't completed enough adventure training/activities. Since the filter I've taken part in some orienteering courses. Would this be sufficient to at least show I'm keen to focus on my weak areas?

    4. Within the individual planning exercises, what is your standard approach to a problem? Do you have any specific tips? For example, I like to write a section for each location with all the parameters given and calculated, which I can quickly refer back to when coming up with the plan.

I'm sure there will be a few more questions to come as I approach OASC but if anyone has any questions themselves, then I would be more than happy to help.
