I've got an interview at Derby for Primary Education and it says you have to teach a skill to a group in 10 minutes. I'm a bit baffled by what they mean by a 'skill' so was wondering what skills other people have taught in the past or are going to teach at this interview?

    Hi,

This is the course I studied, I loved it there. Congrats on getting this far! We didn't have to do this when I was interviewed but I think they would want you to demonstrate some of your attributes: patience, confidence, ways of teaching a concept, skills that may be relevant, being able to think up new ideas!

Think about what you know or even what you could learn to do before hand - this could impress them more that you have dedicated yourself to learning how to do something before teaching others.

Knitting, playing an instrument, drawing a certain picture, origami, loom bands, rowing, rules of a sport, a different language?

They will probably be looking for the process of how you would teach too: explain, demo and let them practice before bringing it to a close and assessing their knowledge.

Hope that helps, feel free to ask me any other questions about the course.
