    A particle A of mass 2.5kg which is at rest on a smooth inclined plane of angle 25degrees is connected to a particle B of mass 1.5kg by a light in extensible string which lies along a line of greatest slope of the plane and passes over a fixed smooth pulley at the top of the plane.

    B hangs freely and the system is released from rest with the string taut. Find the acceleration of the system and the tension in the string.

    If the angle of inclination of the plane is increased to 45degrees, find the new acceleration.

    Please help!

    Answers: 1.09 ms-2, 13.1N 0.656ms-2 down the plane

    Answers: 1.09 ms-2, 13.1N 0.656ms-2 down the plane
    Draw a diagram. As the string is light and inextensible the acceleration and tension are the same at A and B. By resolving forces at A and B, you can find two equations in terms of a and t and solve simultaneously to solve for a and t.
