I've found out that another trainee solicitor doing the same training etc. is paid massively more than the rest of us because he worked at the firm before in research and was quite senior. A trainee is classed as an apprentice under an apprenticeship scheme so I want to know if you guys have come across this issue before?

    What do you guys think?!

    Seems fair.

Your salary isn't meant to drop if you move within the same company. It just means his salary will be frozen while the rest of you get pay increases until you're on a level with him, and then you'll all move up together.

Same thing happened at my place. People transfer onto the apprenticeship because they want the qualifications and they're already getting paid significantly more than everyone else, but then you catch them up as per the pay scale. It's normal.
