I don't have any cgp books as my family can't afford it. What are my options for doing well in my gcse for free? Sites? Resources?

It depends on the subjects your doing. See what websites your school has subscriptions to, as some require a login from them. MyMaths is good for maths, SamLearning was good for sciences, and TSR is really good as well. They have great resources. Download and print past papers for your subjects and use them as practice

I'm sure it is but I haven't used it myself in years, nor has anyone I know. The others have been used by friends more recently

Youtube is really good, but you have to sort through a lot of nonsense before finding a decent video for what you're looking for. There are some good channels out there, such as "Get To Know Science", my-gcsescience, etc. Also, download the specification for your exam board.

You can go to the website for your exam board and download the specification. It will tell you what things you need to know. For example if you are studying AQA science, you go to the AQA website, find the course you are studying, and there will be a download option so you can get the course specification.
