    Hi Folks

I have a UK registered vehicle. Am I allowed to put on Irish number plates? I presume those are the ones which have 3 or 4 letters followed by 3 or 4 digits?

Where is the best place to buy them from? How can I make sure the seller is an authorised dealer?

    Thanks

If you're talking about RoI, then no, you are not. The car would need to be registered as an export, and given you don't actually live in Ireland, registering your car to an address there would probably be difficult (and likely illegal).

Northern Ireland plates are fair game though, they're managed by DVLA same as the British ones. Apparently getting an NI plate on a GB care requires a bit more faff than a standard custom plate, but there are likely plenty of websites out there that can help you deal with that.

    Hi Folks

I contacted the DVLA and they apparently update their information on the 27th of every month. So, if you can't find a suitable plate for sale one particular month, then you have to wait until the 27th of the following month to look at the latest set of plates for sale. This would only give me 12 chances in the whole year to identify my desired plate.

Can anyone suggest how I can increase my chances? Shall I risk going to other dealers apart from DVLA?

    Thanks
