    Hi there,

I have taken a gap year this year and have been in full time employment. When applying for student finance I have to declare my annual household income - my parents' income and my own - will my own income for this tax year affect my Maintenance Loan even though I will likely not be in any form of employment once I've started university?

    Thanks in advance.

SFE does not ask for your income - only any unearned income that you will receive while studying (trust funds, rental income from property etc).

Your household income is the income of the rest of your household - not you.

For 2017/18 finance your will be asked to provide income details for your parents from 2015/16 financial year (and unearned income for yourself for 2017/18)

    Hi josh97

the only income of yours that you would need to declare is (if applicable):

    • Bank or Building Society Gross Interest
    • Property Lettings or Rent
    • Dividends from investments/shares/unit trusts
    • Trusts or Sponsorships
    • Pensions
    • Any other payment received for attending the course (This does not include University Bursaries).

    Thanks
