Queens VS UU

Im hoping to attend one of the unis in northern ireland in sept 08.
Ive viewed both unis at the open days and i likd them both.
Im hoping to do english at the uni... i just am having trouble deciding which uni would be best.. Can anyone give me their opinion on which would be most suitable? Im hoping to do a degree in english and then a PGCE after to enable me to be able to teach..
any advice/ opinions on these 2 unis or the course would be soo great!
Thanks!

Queens is a better uni

I was at the Open Days too and I thought that Jordanstown was awful, a complete dump to be totally honest and that Queens was fantastic.

In my opinion, there's no contest, Queens is by far the better university. It's in a better location, has a better reputation and the halls are like a palace compared to the ones at Jordanstown, also the Students Union is a proper Students Union unlike the one at Jordanstown which is just a room up those rickety stairs.

QUB in almost every respect.

English at Queen's is the way to go

Some excellent tutors, interesting modules, and some impressive alumni.

UU looks more like a reconverted polytech. Went there only for an open day, nice but Queens is much better, and is in a better location too. You'll much prefer South Belfast to NewtonAbbey or Coleraine.

i thought coleriane and jordanstown were 2 dumps, the art college on york street is pretty sweet though. but i dont think the english classes are there.
i was really impressed by the queens open day, and thats where im goin in 2 weeks!

QUB's the best, hopefully I'll be going there next year :proud:

IMO queens seemed seemed far more superior to UU, the nightlife is a lot better at queens as well some great venues and the complex itself is much better. I hope I get into queens it really is a beautiful uni.

QUB is way better than UU except for engineering. But QUB English blows UU out of the water even if just for the Heaney library

Queens is the better university academically, but UU is good for practical subjects.

eh? QUB has one of the best engineering departments in the UK - it's top 10.
it's the only department at the uni that the times rated as "internationally outstanding"...

What, I was wrong? Lol. That's me told.

That's not true at all. Engineering at QUB is generally much better.

The only thing UU is well known for is it's biological sciences department.

Nightlife is a hundred times better, nightlife is non existent at j'town apart from the students union, unless you want to pay £30 quid or more for a taxi to Belfast and back. Belfast has some really good clubs all with different types of music.

I know a girl on my block doing English at Queens (first year), she doesn't seem to have too many contact hours, I have never seen her up before 11:30 AM. God dam you arty students! Although I think she spends hours and hours reading in her room. From what I hear, the English course at Queens is great.

Still a rip-off. With the exception of the Box, Beach Club and Tompsons [for those of you who enjoy getting hit on by 30 year old gay men at 3am  ], everywhere else worth going to for a night out is well within walking distance of Queens halls.

I quite like Thompsons, it is dingy but nice,
Aww, but I think I will be more into nightlife closer to Botanic come September.
