    Hi everyone,

I'm in my first year of studying Psychology in the Netherlands right now but I'm thinking of transferring/dropping out and going to the UK. Long story short, this town and uni wasn't what it was made out to be and I'm feeling like I made the wrong decision. Academically I am having no problem but it's the student life and town itself that's been getting to me. I emailed a few unis asking about transferring and starting with the second year but they don't allow transfers for my course, so I would have to start my first year again, which would be fine with me. So my question is: it's way past the January 15th deadline for UCAS applications, so would there be any point in sending out an application now? I don't want to waste time working on a perfect personal statement and getting references only for them to say that I am too late to be considered for a place. In case this helps, I'm thinking of applying to Edinburgh, Sussex, Birmingham, Leeds, and Manchester, all for Psychology.

If anyone has any advice for me it would be greatly appreciated!

Some uni will accept late applications, so email them and ask. If they say no, then don't apply there - but you'll find somewhere that will consider your application.

Hey thanks everyone. One other thing though - would my application be considered any different than an application from a person just coming out of high school? I mean I'm already in uni and essentially going to drop out, and I'd be applying for a course that I'm already studying. Would that help or hinder my chances?

It really will depend on the judgement of the universities concerned - I'd recommend ringing them first thing tomorrow to get an idea about whether they'll accept a late application for first year entry from someone in your situation. Often they will be more willing if you're applying from another university (because they'd rather an applicant in that situation actually made an effort to complete their course rather than giving up after a few weeks) but some universities (of your list I'd expect probably Edinburgh) wont consider late applications for year 1 entry under any circumstance.
