As far as I know LSE is considered to be a more "postgrad" university. This necessarily comes with the fact that getting into one of the programmes is harder at a graduate than at an undergraduate level. For e.g. MSc in Financial Mathematics, the acceptance rate is below 5%.

    Places/Applications Political Science - 39/229 (17%)
    Places/Applications Public Policy - 46/550 (8.4%)

Given the size of the fees, I would say yes!

LSE is one of the top tier unis in the world. All courses are highly competitive because you're competing with some of the best postgrad applicants in the world. Most will exceed the stated entry requirements. Far fewer people will get in, than apply.

Whether it's easy or hard to get in depends on your previous study track record, how good your application is, relevant professional experience if you have any, the quality of your academic references and your ability to perform in an interview.

For most people, yes, it would be hard.
