I am currently applying to go on my year abroad in France this October, and I am really needing some help picking regions and arguing strongly as to why I have picked them.

Can anyone who is applying or has applied give me some advice as to how to pick regions, where is good/bad to go in terms of having lots to see and do? I'm looking for somewhere with a friendly, community vibe with things to do, somewhere different to England and somewhere that is not too rural and not too populated. Any help would be really appreciated!
