I failed maths, and resitting it this year. If I got an A or A* could I pursue a Medical career and other courses related to maths. Or would it be more difficult for me to pursue those fields? Woud I be behind a year? What is the best option for me to
    evaluate.

You haven't really given us much info (e.g. are you in sixth form currently, your year group, other subjects you're doing, interests). Are these your GCSE or A-level grades? You don't need Maths A-level to work in any medical related career, and not all universities ask for an A or A* in Maths related courses (honestly I can name you over 40 unis that don't require it, you can check on WhatUni).

My advice will be to narrow down courses you're interested in first, by going to universities websites and looking at their course list (noting down the ones you're in interested in) and viewing entry requirements. Then have at look at the fields these graduates end up in.

You could study a course related to maths online via the Open University. Check it out.

As the above poster has stated, not every uni requires A*, A grade for Mathematics.
