    Hi all,

I've got an offer to do MSc Astrophysics at UCL and I wanted to ask some questions to those who have completed the course.

    1. Is the course difficult/easy compared to undergraduate Physics (i.e how much time did you allocate to studying/did you have a social life etc)?

    2. What modules do you recommend?

    3. Is here sufficient help for homework/coursework?

    4. How well do you rate the research projects and what area of research do you recommend?

    5. Most important; career prospects, did you get the job you wanted/go on to further study?

    Thanks to any responses.

Also if anyone's applied would be nice if you dropped a post so we know who you are

You may be able to get in touch with current or former students through the uni itself.

A masters course is always a step up from an undergrad course. For a start it's a lot more intense and you will have to do a lot more independent study. There won't be much 'help' for coursework (and frankly if you had your hand held during your undergrad degree that would be a bit worrying!). Info about modules can be found online. The uni may be able to tell you what projects were offered in previous years but looking at the research pages for the dept should give you a feel for research interests within the dept. Finally, the uni should be able to tell you where grads ended up. Visit if you can.

Hey!!!! I am in the same course too. And I almost have the same queries as you do. Did you get any responses or contacts of students who have taken up the programme. I am from a Physics background (not so intense though). So, I am worried if I would be able to cope with this programme :/ Any ideas?
