    Hi,

I'm currently studying biomedical science at the University of Lincoln (2nd Year) and have found an unpaid yearlong placement at Public Health England in London.

Do we still get full student finance grant/loan etc while on placement?
And is it an increased amount due to the placement being in London?
And if so what is the Maximum finance available
(I'm likely to receive this as my parents don't earn much)

    Thanks :-)

You need to speak to Lincoln about what support might be available for an unpaid placement - you should be able to get some support http://www.practitioners.slc.co.uk/m..._fs_1617_d.pdf

    Hi

If you are on a placement, financial support available may change for that year. The amount of support available depends on your situation.

There are 3 different types of work placement:

    (A) Unpaid work placement anywhere not covered in (B)

    (B) Unpaid work placement in a hospital, health or Local Authority, prison or probation sector etc. Students who opt to do a placement at a private institution cannot be classed as doing a Type B placement.

    (C) Paid work placement in the UK/Overseas
A letter from the University/College (HEI) to confirm details of a placement is only required in certain cases (applying for a travel grant, unpaid and uncertain periods abroad/placement)
NOTE: We only require evidence for unpaid placements (B) as you are eligible to receive full support. If a student is at their HEI for 10 weeks or more, they will usually be entitled to Full Time SupportIf a student is at their HEI for less than 10 weeks, they will usually be charged lower/half fees and receive reduced rate Maintenance Loan. For the amounts you may be able to receive, it's best to call us on 0300 100 0607 to allow us to check this and advise accordingly based on the type of placement you are on.Thanks
