I am asking because I have also applied to universities abroad but I have received an unconditional offer through UCAS. By June I will know if I have got the results to get into the university I want to, as I do BTEC. But would this be possible if I have firmed the unconditional offer?

    Thanks.

I believe you can, since a friend of mine did the same thing. However, I am not sure whether she told the university about it or not.

Yes you can. You just need to withdraw from the UCAS process and your presence will be forgotten. Changing your mind and hoping to get into another UK university is not so simple though.

So do you have to ask to be released by the university?

So do you have to ask to be released by the university?
    Not for your purposes.

Do you want to maybe apply elsewhere through clearing or just not go to university at all this autumn?

    the two are very different.

You don't have to pick a firm til May. By then you should have a better idea what your final result will be. It's better to wait and pick wisely than rush into a choice now only to end up trying to reverse it.
