When people ask where you go/went to university, do you like telling them or do you feel embarrassed (say if it's a bad uni)?

    Open Uni

I'm proud. OU gets a bad rep for being an uni only suitable for people too 'thick to go to a brick uni' or for full time mums and things like that but I chose that uni over a brick uni I got accepted to. I found their materials, support and teaching to be just as good as any brick uni or college I've known. The determination needed to do a course with them is a lot harder than you would think. Degrees with OU seem to be played down and casted as easy but they far from it and it's so hard to keep yourself to a rigid timetable of work when you don't have set lectures to attend every day like at a brick uni.

I don't doubt this for one second and admire the level of discipline it must take to get a degree through the OU. I looked in to it myself a few years ago but I just knew I didn't have that level of self motivation. I never see the Open Uni as for people who are 'too thick', quite the contrary actually!
