I had an AEA section before but then I had to cut back on space since there's a character limit.

Thank god, your signature's far too long as it is and takes up so much space on the page. I would hide it, but I don't want to block everyone's signature!
my teacher told me that once you get an offer for an interview from Oxford, they send out another form for you to fill in which then asks for your module marks- is this wrong?

cambridge send you a supplimentary form asking for your module marks. Oxford don't do this at the moment.

does anyone actually want oxford to see module grades? i mean i worked hard for my 290's id love it if they looked at them

You could have asked your teacher to put it in your reference. Even though my scores are crap, they're on my reference.

nono i mean i dont want to go to any trouble so they see them, its just when people cringe at the idea of module grades being part of the application, im sure many of us would not be bothered in the slightest by it? or am i wrong (as i usually am )?

My issue is that i don't think they're a very good indicator of ability- depending on subject, your actual UMS score can be rather variable depending on a number of factors beyond your control. The whole point of putting grades on exams, rather than just a score is to make the results more meaningful. I'd argue that there is no distinguishable difference between a candidate who gets 275 or 281- things like the questions that come up, the exam board, who marked the paper all play a part.

It appears that this year some colleges have started asking for module results for some subjects this year. What's been said above still holds true- they only see them if you give them to them, and for the moment there's no general policy of asking for them across the university.

i read an article the other day that says oxford want module grades as of next year (applying for 2009 entry), so we just escaped this year...

Escaped?
Surely showing your UMS will make it easier to differentiate candidates?

Can I ask where you read that, mind you I think it's a good idea, bearing in mind though I haven't taken any AS exams yet.

Ahem. Like everyone else, Oxford got module grades this year. Only Cambridge asked for UMS marks at the time of application.

Could we please keep this thread for hard facts, rather than speculation about what might change in the future. If you read that Oxford are going to insist on seeing module grades/UMS marks (currently if you're AS levels aren't certificated, you don't submit module grades- see my original post in this thread), that's fine, but can you post a link to the article with it, please?

sorry, i meant UMS scores- oxford are asking for them next year. i cannot for the life of me remember where I read this but when I rang up admission office a long while ago, the lady was saying that they wanted to ask for UMS scores this year but didn't get it sorted in time, but they almost certainly would for next year.

Yeah Cambridge do this at the moment, the people form my school that were accepted to Cam. this year averaged around 92% UMS per module, which to be fair is insanely high:eek: . It's kind of unfair though, a high UMS score in a foregin language AS is near on impossible, but as someone said earlier if it's unrelated to your degree choice do they really care?

I have emailed the admissions office and rung them, in an attempt to find out if they do actually want UMS scores this year, no one answers the phone or responds to emails! I will keep trying but if anyone at Oxford at the moment can find out from someone in the know (a tutor maybe?) then could they please do so.

Thanks
