I'm sorry to hear you're not enjoying your time at uni so far. First year is always a bit awkward with all these new people thrown together into a small space. I was in uni halls my first year as well and didn't enjoy it too much being all the way out there. Also, you don't have to be best friends with your flatmates; some people just don't click with each other.

Have you tried joining some societies? It's never too late to join and members are always so welcoming to new people. There's course based societies which are great for sharing knowledge and spending time with like minded people, and also for making friends on your course so lectures aren't so lonely. And then there's societies for interests like Harry Potter, Sci-Fi, Baking, Acapella, Sewing, the list is endless. There's also plenty of volunteer groups available in the SU which are a great way to get experience and make new friends.

Please don't quit and waste all your hard work getting here.

    All the best, Kate.
