I'm studying OCR AS Chem too and I went from an E to an A by doing open book questions to learn content and how to answer questions. For me timing was an issue so I try to improve on that by doing lots of past papers. I would also recommend the CGP course guide it contains most topics, goes through topics step by step and doesn't have uneccesary information. However I wouldn't rely on it as a primary source of information because it oversimplified some aspects. Hope this helps.

What do you mean by open book questions?
