As many WJEC students know, our textbooks are terrible so I would like to know what exam board has relatively common topics for both Biology and Chemistry so I can buy better study guides and complete more past papers.

Thanks,
Juvanile

Hi - I would suggest trying revision guides, instead of buying the full textbook.

For Biology try this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0198351798
and for Chemistry try this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0198351992/

For Biology diagrams, look online - they are easy to find. Also try videos by McGraw-Hill and Khan Academy on YouTube. The McGraw Hill ones are generally succinct and cover most of what you need to know for a topic. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J4LXs-oDCU&t=7s

(I write this as someone who has taught multiple exam boards, including WJEC)

The revision guides for WJEC chem and bio I actually found pretty useful - I guess it depends on preference though.
