Hi everybody, I was just hoping for some advice in regards to applying for a maintenance loan - I would be eligible for the one up to £7,000 one however, I really am worried about paying it off in the future - my parents are trying to get me to not get it and advising me whilst also warning me that it'll increase my debt also. I don't think that I will be getting the full loan that I am entitled to, probably the lowest one. I have no idea whether I should apply for it or not?

Well, do you have enough money to live off for the duration of your degree without taking the loan?
The last thing you need to be worrying about with a student loan is actually paying it off.

Do it! Student loans are the easiest loans you'll ever get. You only pay back once you're earning over 21k and it gets wiped after 30 years. I'm pretty sure student finance also doesn't count towards debt and mortgages, obviously they ask when you get a mortgage but if you have one they don't hold it against you..
