    (Original post by Analyst89)
So a couple of months ago he said to me:

Son "get married quick (I'm 27)" and "if I'm single by 29 no one will want to marry me".

He even tells me not to talk to women.

Even when I was 19, he said the same, don't go out too much(even though I went out once a month where students go out twice a week) and he even told me not to talk to girls back then too.

He said "if you ignore me" and I said I don't ignore him. He then said I'll give you good advice and your friends won't help you or other family members in the time of need.

He also says he's biggest worry is with me.

I'm going into software development programming and start up my web development freelance business part time.

I can't believe how worried, negative he is when things are going extremely well. I'm man, men can get married anytime, he's just stuck in this negativity of age etc.

Seriously, my relative got married at 34 and he found someone nice and I believe he's just going to manipulate me into getting married quick for the sake I've got married and he has nothing to worry about.

When will he be positive even though things are very positive for me at the moment and there is nothing wrong with me? I'm even a man.
As a mother I want my sons to get married - it is all about having someone to look after them - I know it is silly and possibly a bit old fashioned. One of my sons is married but now I want them to have children - but I am keeping very quiet about it because I don't want them to feel pressured. My other son - I am desperate for him to get a girlfriend and yes then convert her into a wife ( and it is because I want him to be cared for and then I can feel I have handed him over) Your dad is only doing the same.
