    It depends on what BTEC and what university/course you hope to apply for. For some courses, the more practical and applied content of a BTEC can be a distinct advantage. For some courses you would be better off with traditional A level subjects that are assessed by examination. In the past it could be said that exclusively studying BTEC was poor preparation for the exams you'd face at university but BTEC changes have introduced more examination based assessment.

    Whether it's advisable depends on your own academic strengths, the subjects you think you will do well in and the entry requirements universities set for courses you'd like to do.
