I returned an item on eBay, I sent it via freepost back to the guy, but eBay's saying I haven't sent it back and I need to put a return label or something which they want me to pay £2.99 for. What's the deal?

Did you send it untracked? It may have got lost in the post.

Depending on the return reason you will have to pay the return costs, so that's why eBay is asking you to pay.

Well, the guy said it won't cost me anything because it's a freepost address and I just have to post it in my local red postbox.

You need to explain the reasons for return, is it faulty or have you changed your mind? It decides who should pay return postage.

Don't send it untracked, he can just claim he didn't receive it if he wishes and you will lose the item and the money.
