I'm hoping to start a Masters in September 2018. However, between September 2017 and April 2018 I think that I will be working and living abroad. I was born in England and lived there for all of my life but will I still meet the eligibiltiy criteria if I move abroad for a few months? I've pasted the eligibiltiy criteria below which states that you must have lived in England for the 3 years before starting your course.

You can get the Postgraduate Loan if all of the following apply:

You’re a UK or EU national, or have ‘settled status’, so there are no restrictions on how long you can stay

You normally live in England, and didn’t move there just to study

You’ve been living in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for 3 years before starting your course

Ordinary residence (what is meant by "normally" in the above sentences) is based on where you would live in normal circumstances. Temporary moves abroad for short term work or study doesn't affect your residence.

When you're abroad try to keep any contracts or visas that show your work is temporary, keep a UK bank account and keep yourself on the electoral register etc
