    Hello everyone,

I'm a private candidate studying AS Maths currently, with the intentions of also studying A2 Maths next year. I was wondering if cashing in my AS grade this year would prevent me from doing my A2 next year. I think this is probably a very silly question, but I was told that cashing in an AS grade declares that you're finished with qualification and accept a final grade.

    Any reply would be appreciate.

    Thanks.

You can re-certificate next year. It is normal to do so and doesn't count anything.

Does that mean that I can cash-in the AS, and then proceed to do the A2?

Yes that's what almost everyone does. I was also suggesting you should re-certificate AS later if you don't achieve grade A as your AS result could improve.
