are u saying muay thai and brazilian jiu jitsu are crap or the martial arts at kent uni is crap?

none really, i just LOVE boxing and i really don't fancy getting kicked and elbowed in the face. thats why i called it crap.
yea thats no reason to call it crap though.

pure muay thai is probably (not probably, it is) way more effective than just pure boxing because 8 weapons is better than 2 (although ive been told boxing is best to learn first before going muay thai classes)

to put it simply muay thai>boxing though.

but in no way am i trying to say boxing is crap.

Although Muai Thai is more dangerous... but in training it is much safer than boxing. There are more boxers dying than Muai Thai trainer... basically because boxers always get hit on the head too many times.

So Muai thai training is safer than boxing, but the actual combat is more dangerous.

Anyways, its good to learn from all. I'm learning boxing foot work, which will be handy.

this guy makes a lot of sense. in boxing, you take repeated blows to the head. even mixed martial arts fighting (UFC, Pride, Cage Rage) is widely regarded as being less dangerous than boxing and there has not been a single death (well there was one death where a guy fought in an underground promotion but he wasnt cleared to fight by a doctor.) in the sport.

Gunna bump this thread. Also very interested to know the answer of this and not much info was given other than the news that there's a boxing club, which is good news.. or at least there was back when this was made. Can anyone confirm for me if it's still around? I'm into my boxing and wouldn't wanna have to stop when I get to Canterbury.. and would also like to take up some new martial arts if they're available around the town!

It's probably alot of fun, haha! lots of open grass on campus too.. infact when I went for my interview I was walking through the campus and saw a group of around 20 on the field opposite the library playing with a frisby lol... that was probably them.

It's a shame so many of the clubs links are dead though :frown: no way of knowing what clubs are still active or not.

You've seriously NO idea how seriously Kent takes 'Ultimate Frisbee'.

Seriously.

They do NOT joke in that club :p: VERY hardcore. I honestly tell no lie here.
