A friend of mine did poorly in his GCSE's (not going to go into specifics here) and during his A-Levels, he achieved some great results which opened his doors to some top universities (of course this had to exclude the top 3 for obvious reasons). Now, he is in his desired university which is in the top 30 rankings. Hopefully, you would consider this no.ranking to be a top university.
Your mate.. did he get any A's? Thats all I ask.

Btw, Unis do look at GCSE results in context from your school(for e.g , if you came from a poorly performing school)

ohhh okay, so your telling me , they're are people out there who just automatically know German?
Are you serious? Are you so thick that you can't learn whilst playing on your phone? Also, it seems you haven't been paying attention in English either, considering you've used 'your' and 'they're' incorrectly. You shouldn't even be worrying about GCSEs if I were you, you can barely comprehend Year 1 English. I guess it is hard to learn a new language if you don't even understand "you're" first one.

Cambridge done a study which show that GCSE's aren't good predictors of tripos success when compared to other estimators.
I think that's why top universities prefer to judge your aptitude with interviews and their own exams. GCSEs will still have some importance but I would definitely say it's less significant than admission test scores and interviews.

Well let's have a look shall we? One of us is predicted all A* at GCSE, while the other got a U in German. Enjoy living in that fantasy land of "I'll become an investment banker" because that requires at least a hint of academic prowess, which a U doesn't really show. Enjoy being on benefits mate.
