A very large painful lump has suddenly sprung up under the area around my nipple. It has literally become about 2 inches down and across in the last two days. Before there was a very small painless lump near the side of my nipple- I may have knocked it during a martial arts workout because it has moved a few centimetres down and blown up and it is really painful!

I'm really scared do I have cancer??

Could be loads of things (there's like a billion different types of breast lump - a lot of them not cancer), although you can get lumps after trauma to breast too. Just relax and go see your GP.

Doctor. There are various pretty mild reasons for lumps and bumps anywhere on your body including breasts, but you should always get anything unusual checked to be safe because it is often difficult to tell the mild and the not so mild apart.

There is a risk of cancer, but try not to worry about that. It is far more likely to be something else. I would suggest seeing a doctor soon though, since it does seem like whatever it is it sprung up pretty quick and you don't want to be waiting around if you're in pain. Maybe call 111 to see what the best option is.

yup you need to see your doctor. its extremely unlikely to be cancer but its possible. it could be anything from an infection to a cyst. tell your mum. see a Doctor on monday and dont worry. no one could tell you on here what it is.

I had a lump in my breast for years and wasn't until I noticed it getting slightly bigger about two years ago that I went to my GP about it. She examined my breasts and refferred me to a specialist at my local hospital, they sent me for an ultrasound and found out I actually had two - they weren't cancerous and they don't normally take them out on women under 25 because the chances of them turning cancerous are so small, but because they were so big and took up a lot of space in my breast, they recommended I have them taken out.

Few weeks later I had a small operation to remove both of them, only took about an hour and I was home by lunchtime, no problems at all. They sent the tissues off to be examined and it turns out they were both fibroadenoma, lumps that many young women get during puberty and not dangerous at all.
