i would be interested to hear from anyone who is on science courses and has sponsorship as its something i am definately thinking about.
How easy to get is it?
What did you do to contact the company?
How much money did they give you and was it preformance related?
Are there opportunities for summer work at the company?
Are you contracted to work for that company after you leave uni?
When did you apply for it?
If you can answer on these questions it would also help if you said where and what course you are on.

Veryhard by traditional methods, I found the best method to be lucky. Try being in the right place at the right time and you might get lucky  . Just remember to be respectful to everyone you meet in Y12 and Y13 and hope that your character and personality does the rest.

What did you do to contact the company?
They contacted me after they "spotted me" at a conference thingy (computing related hence thier involvement).

How much money did they give you and was it preformance related?£2200 / year (maximum of 4 years as an undergrad). It can increase depending on my results and progression.

Are there opportunities for summer work at the company?
Ask me next summer. I've been told there are but I'll wait till then to confirm that.

Are you contracted to work for that company after you leave uni?
Nope.

When did you apply for it?
First contacted about thier interest around November of Y13.

I don't think there is really a set-in-stone ethod to getting a sponsorship. You should definitely continue to persue one yourself and with any luck I'm sure you will find an oppourtunity somewhere.

That is definately a problem for me, i would like to try and get some but I can't imagine taht just writing off to random companies is going to be particularly sucessful. When did they people who replied to adverts see the adverts out of interest? and is it easier to get once you are on the course as up until this point I have been unsure of applying as I am not sure where I am going.

I don't know about everyone else but I gain my sponsorship after I had applied but BEFORE I accepted any place. My sponsor is quite strict as to which courses I am allowed to take so I had to run all my choices by them before I confirmed anything. Have you considered any of the freely advertised sponsorships (e.g. the IEE one)?

Do you have any website addresses where sponsorships would be advertised?

Hardly anyone does sponsorship these days and those that do normally give it to people who work for them during vacations.

I wouldn't mind doing a bit of vacation work though - as long as it didn't interrupt my partying.

From what I can see, there appears to be plenty of opportunities for Engineering students, but not many for anyone else!
