Anyone know anything about the AHRC at Oxford? They have 10 awards for MA students, but I have heard nothing from them. The only university actually, to have said nothing of it.

Any information would be appreciated.
A week ago I heard I was placed on the reserve list... So I think all offers have gone out already.
Hello everyone, I was offered a place for the Mst in Literature and Art. Is anyone else from the course here?
I am an international student and was wondering if someone might explain how one goes about doing well in a Masters program in order to be successful in staying on as a DPhil student?

Hi - is that with Continuing Education? If so then it might be best to discuss with your department about following on with a DPhil.
I know some interdisciplinary Oxford courses, the MSt in Women's Studies for example, enables you to qualify for the DPhil in English/History/Politics (depending on your specialization), but I dont know if the Cont Ed Masters operate the same way. I'm assuming your programme is also interdisciplinary?
If it's Literature you're interested in, it might be an idea to drop a line to the English dept about DPhil reqs. As far as I know, the usual reqs are a distinction in the MSt and/or dissertation; great writing samples and references (I'm guessing it'll help if your tutors at Cont Ed are also in the English faculty?); a strong RP and availability of a suitable supervisor.

Yes, it is with Continuing Education and it is interdisciplinary. They have said that they don't yet offer the DPhil, but that the MSt course can be used to lead to DPhil work possibly at Oxford and that they may be able to offer you a place if suitable supervision can be found. It seems like they are interested in creating the programme at some point.
Could you elaborate on how the grading works? What does a 60, 70, 80 mean (in terms of frequency awarded and criteria for each)? I realize this is rather theoretical, but I am just trying to get a grasp of the context and standards, so please know I'd just be grateful for any light you can shed, as this is all foreign.
Also, I was curious to know how graduate students approach the reading lists, as in, do you read all of the books listed, or do your best or pick and choose, or is this a conversation with your Tutor or Advisor? Is there any general idea of how much of a reading list to try to accomplish?
And my last question involves being assigned to a college. Do applicants reach out to the desired college in any way, to state their interest? Is there anything that you can do to help your case? Thanks for your input!
Hi - just wondering if any of the English applicants have heard about colleges and funding yet?
I'm suspecting as I have heard nada from AHRC I am rejected from there. I have been told that I'm nominated for a studentship, but that's all really.
Nothing on colleges either.
Has anybody here also been nominated for that mysterious 'department studentship' (on which, upon calling, they will not disclose how many they are allocating) and, if so, have you heard anything?

An email I got a while ago said that I'd been rejected for AHRC and/or Departmental Scholarship. That's all I know of it
