Hi HLS,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, i started my bachelors in USA, but due to a personal reason, i had to transfer to UK. I can't wait to graduate now.

Can you please elaborate on the 'a good first' part that you mentioned?

If you know any of your engineering friends who might have gotten offers??

Thanks.

I have no further details on what "a good first" constitutes - I think it is left deliberately vague to allow the Departments some flexibility in their 'ask'.

Hopefully another poster will explain what the Engineering departments expect. Their website suggests they will expect a first class degree for the taught programme, but only a 2:1 for the MSc by Research.

Very soon indeed! I got an offer from St Edmund Hall today by email. (I was quite surprised, both because it's a bank holiday and because I was expecting it by post.) For those who are trying to track these sort of things: I got my faculty offer about mid-March, and I had put Magdalen down as my college choice. (I didn't hear anything while they were shuffling me around.) I'm extremely happy!

What course r u doing??

I am a March applicant so we'll hear even later, but I totally understand you. It'd be good to know, even if just to be able to stalk pictures of the college or to be sure that we actually get accommodation!
I have a quick question for everyone.

I just got the final grades for my BA, and somehow I far exceeded Oxford's offer. (So so so relieved!!!) Now the offer letter states that final transcripts must be sent to the address stated in the letter, which is all well and good.
I did a year abroad at Bristol during my McGill degree, and the grades of my year abroad do not show on my transcript. When I applied, I sent both transcripts in electronic version. Do you think that I should request a hard copy of the Bristol transcript, although nothing has changed on it since I applied? Or is the McGill transcript with my final GPA enough?

(Sorry for the length of the question, I know I'd better just send both to make sure, I was just wondering if anyone was in the same situation!)

I'm in a similar situation too, though I've not completed my BA degree yet (that'll be happening in a month) I did a year abroad in the US last year but my home uni is in England...

I think what matters is the final transcript from your home institution...it's quite a hassle getting hard-copy transcripts from the exchange uni, so I wouldn't bother with it unless they specifically ask for it after you've sent your McGill one in...

Right here with you ACC - Jan deadline, Balliol. They might just replace the admissions site with a loading gif.

Thanks to people like Fayre and Shakesper for keeping us posted, will do the same.

Hey, we're in this together! :-)

I certainly haven't forgotten about colleges either... been lurking here trying to find out when others are hearing too. My situation is a bit strange in that I was a January applicant, but my university application got held over to March due to internal delays, so I got my offer only in mid-April.

Can't remember whether I told you already... when I emailed Balliol they said that it was being considered with the March batch within the next 2 weeks. So I'm going to check up next Monday/Tuesday with them just to see. Did you ever email asking whether your app had got held over by chance (like my department one was)?? Either way I suggest you definitely check up with them then too.

Anyway, I know exactly the anxiousness of having to suffer with no information so long. Maybe try to take consolation in the fact you've already been accepted by one of the best best universities in the world, regardless of college... though I know that's easier said!

Hang in there, and I'll let you know whenever I have any more information of course. :-)

Hey - in my experience it's just the transcript from your home university that is required, as they are the ones who are awarding you your degree. If your home university does not take your Bristol grades into account, as would be usual for an exchange program, then your Bristol transcript is not relevant. But in the unlikely event that additional transcripts are required, Oxford will be sure to contact you.

PS I have just received a second offer for Christ Church which I will probably be accepting - does anyone know anything about its graduate accommodation? There is not much info available on the web, which makes me wonder whether they perhaps have something to hide.

Hi Gabrielle,

What was your offer?...... if you don't mind me asking.

Also, you can ask people at Oxford if they want your study abroad grades.

Thanks.

hey guys, thanks for the support/empathy and for not saying "you got an oxford offer, shut up!" haha

yeah maybe I'll wait till nearer the end of the week and just phone/send a casual email checking that they had recieved my application

a college offer would really help to convince me that I actually have a place and that they didn't just send me an offer-email by mistake, ha.

I also applied for the January deadline and am still waiting on a college place. I feel your pain.

Good luck with your call/email
