the student ID number is the one you receive in the IT log in info email.

Thanks...

But don´t you get this email only after signing the University contract???

Hello Latis, if you have yet to received the email from OUCS, the student number will probably be the same as your OSS. For me, they are both the same. Not sure if it applies to all though.

Ok thanks a lot... Then I will take the OSS number as my student ID number.

Cheers

Helo Latis, I just realised that you will not be required to fill in any student ID number (if you are referring to the University Contract). It says on the form "For Office Use" which means the administration person will handle that section.

Thanks for the tip... It seems to me that, compared to the 25 pounds my college charges for its bedlinen set, all other sets are quite expensive. However, since HoVis said the college´s set will be too cold in winter and that a 4 seasons set is better, I think I will have to go with linen from a shop. Thus, your tip is very useful to me... THANKS A LOT

Nonetheless I should mention that the 4 seasons set at Boswells has 2 sheets (one for summer and one for autumn and tucked together they´re for winter, as far as I understood...)

The issue with the set from your college is that it appears to be for a single bed. As you are a couple you will presumably have a double bed and so none of those things will fit. A 4 seasons duvet from Argos will be cheaper but actually you may not need one. You may be best to wait until you get there to work out what you actually need.

Has anyone e-mailed the English faculty to ask about the reading lists?

Did you get the e-mail today?

Hello, I'm also studying the 1550-1700 strand of the English Mst. Lincoln College. Glad to know that no one else has received the reading list yet.

Hi Adam,
I'm studying the 1550-1700 strand too, got the course outline thing yesterday. What do you think of it? I have no idea what to go for to be honest!

Hi there, I see you're also doing the early modern strand. What do you think of taking the B module instead of an extra two C's?

I get the feeling they kind of lean you towards B so it must be useful for the dissertation, but I have a strong feeling i'll be rather bad at it!

Also only really like the look of one C course per term anyway!

Hello. Does anyone know if the B course is essential for those going on to the DPhil at Oxford or just highly recommended?

Everyone who received a course outline, are you all doing the same strand? I haven't received anything yet. (English 650-1550)

I want to do a DPhil/PhD after so I'm gonna do the B course and two C courses. Trying to decide between Lucretius and Underworlds but think I'm pretty set on the sermon one in the first term.

I think we're all 1550-1700. Best bet is probably to email Claire Rylatt. The course book had details for all periods though so if you want a copy just PM me your e-mail address.

There's a note in the course handbook saying that you have to have extremely good reasons for not doing it. Sounds like it would definitely make it harder (though not impossible) to progress to a DPhil. Maybe not so much of a problem if you plan to do your doctoral stuff at another uni?

I'm going to do the B course, because I plan to do a PhD afterward. I think the training will be really useful, if a bit less exciting than more C options...

I put the Sonnet as my first choice for Michaelmas, and then Underworlds as my first choice for Hilary.

(I'm also 1550-1700.)

You have webmail already?! Still don't have college assigned, then I have to make the final acceptance before they even think about giving me email hah...

Finally found it in my Oxford webmail. Thanks for the tip!!
I got mine in my Oxford webmail yesterday too (1900-Present). I don't intend to do the B course as I'm not considering a DPhil immediately afterwards but I'm having trouble picking 4 C-Options as there are none really relevant to my research interests... I bit of a disappointment as there were always one or two in the past from what I've seen of previous years' handbooks. Any other 1900-Present people decided on their C Options yet?

Hi there. I think that it looks nice and heavy. I've opted for the b course, tragicomedy and the Lucretius module. You? What are you doing in terms of buying the secondary reading - Anthony Gurr Et al?
