Thanks for your answer :0)

I was worried that the 25th might be too short and was thinking about the 22nd as date of arrival. But now that I know that at least one other person is arriving on the 25th I am released and feel like it´s early enough... I am at Linacre college but the accommodation manager did not answer to my request for information so far. Although I wrote to her two times...:frown:

Which college are you at?

Again, many thanks for your reply.

Regards

You're welcome. I chose to arrive on 25th only because I wouldn't be able to afford too many days' accommodation fees. I am with St Peter's.

Yeah the fees are also my biggest worries but I thought it might be a good idea to arrive a little bit earlier and to get everything done in time... However, I guess two days are more than time enough...I think, I am getting a little nervous because my whole application and decision was on very short notice... so maybe that´s why I feel like I have to arrive that early :colondollar:

Wow st. peter´s is a nice looking college. Congrats

May I ask what course you will start?
I will start my PhD in Materials.

Cheers

That's disappointing, maybe she's away on holiday like everyone else seems to be. Did you try your college's grad admissions secretary?

My college sent some information on arrival procedures but Im guessing they'll differ slightly from yours. I'm arriving a couple of weeks early mainly because I have to sort out my private accommodation.

Hey,

many thanks for your reply.
My admissions secretary asked me to get in touch with the accommodation manager  so I´ll have to wait for her answer anyway...

I wish you good luck with finding yourself a beautiful new home in Oxford. I think you will definitely enjoy being there a couple of weeks earlier.

Cheers

Haha I must admit I'm relieved to hear that!

Is the psychoanalysis course from the Modernist strand? I'm quite keen on Victorian class and gender as a second option (if Im not up for the B course) but wondering if the lack of period knowledge will be a drawback. Maybe I'm overthinking things; I should really just complete the form and send it in.

I'd say take your time as I was told by the department nothing will be confirmed for no one course wise till the deadline anyway, which is a few weeks away!

I've done psychoanalysis before, looks great but does not go with my strand. I've picked no C courses from my own strand, think it should be fine as we only have 2 courses we can pick and I rather be bad at something I enjoy, than excel at something I don't.

Btw - are people moving to Ox earlier than the 27th?

I am going to be there on the 24th! We should try to organize a pub night for everyone who'll be there early!

HEY Guys,

one question? When do you plan to arrive in Oxford. The graduate programme start on 27th and I was wondering when you guys plan to arrive in Oxford in order to have enough time left to prepare everything for the start. Do you all have already booked your flights?
And does anybody know until when it´s possible to register and get the keys for once room? I am arriving pretty late (after 6pm) and was wondering whether that´s a problem with regards to picking up the key.

Regards

I just got a ticket to arrive 25th.
But what do you mean "programme start on 27th"? I am not sure about all programmes, but the term starts on 7th October. There is zero week which starts on October 1, but I am not aware of anything starting on the 27th ??

Hi there

I too am trying to juggle around my arrival dates to Oxford. My course begins on the 5th of October and still need to book accommodation after I get there. I although have someone who I will be residing with for the first 5-6 days. Any advice on cheap student accommodation in or around Oxford University.

I think 27th is the Orientation for graduates. There is some information here: http://www.ox.ac.uk/media/global/wwwoxacuk/localsites/studentgateway/orientation/Graduate_Student_Orientation_Programme_draft_timetable.pdf

I'm arriving on 25th as well, in the morning. Hope to settle in, unpack, and find some time to explore the place a bit.

By the way, any one else from St Peter's here?

No I am in a college owned house on Banbury road, which is quite expensive. But it´s only for the first 10 month. So I´ll have enough time to find me a nice private flat....
