I have just received an offer for the MSc in Mathematics and the Foundations of Computer Science at Oxford beginning in October 2012. The only condition is funding, but this shouldn't be a problem. Anyone know when we will hear from colleges?

congratulations! Generally, if you manage to get in your first choice you'll hear relatively soon (It took me a bit more than a month I think...) but if your application goes to another college it will take longer (3-4 months is not unheard of)

I have already won quite a number of prestigious awards and scholarships. I can easily impress people (and disappoint them later) lol.

sorry, that wasn't commenting on you particularly, just the fact that they sent us all offers saying "we have been impressed..." (and then when we get here it's the exact opposite )
I'm sure your CV is very impressive, you wouldn't receive an offer if it wasn't. Congrats btw! What did you apply for?

I didn't say I've received an offer. Try again.

oh sorry, yeah you said you received an email, but I guessed based on the email that you will eventually receive it. It would just be a cruel joke if they told you that and then they rejected you

better?

Hear, hear...

Like I said, I didn't know what to expect. It's not weird, mate. They make us expect an answer soon, which could be a little cruel lol. I also check my inbox several times a day.

Don't worry about the interview. Anything can happen. So be calm and get ready for whatever outcome.

Its none of their business. It is to provide them with information about the competition.

Yes, TBD is absolutely right. It's an optional question, so feel free not to answer it.

Sorry for the random quote but I just noticed your signature and saw that you're applying for PhDs in much of the same places that I am. Good to know someone in the same boat! I just wanted to ask how the US application process is going? I haven't heard anything from any of the unis and I feel very nervous about getting in, especially considering the fortune I spent on application fees. Have you heard back from anyone yet?

And OP, I don't think they should judge your application by where else you applied. It's just to gauge competition and it's completely optional.

Hey mate! Yeah it's going fine but it's just so time-consuming, you know? I'm going to submit Yale, Harvard and Princeton this coming week... Waiting for my supervisor at Cam to return my proposal for Ox/Cam DPhils with comments so I can submit those two... How's it going with you? Haven't heard back from anyone yet--Probably will hear back around Feb/March.
Finally submitted my application! Phew! It ended up being a little later than I anticipated but still, the relief is great. Just hope that my referees upload the references before the deadline.

Good luck to everyone else submitting for the Jan deadline.

To you too! Your username is quite apt for my current situation, must say.

What course have you applied for, out of interest?

I definitely understand the time consuming part! I've submitted all the application and have lost of track of what additional documents I'm supposed to be sending for some of them, tbh. Btw, I thought the Harvard deadline was Dec 1? Or have I got it all wrong?

What are you applying for, out of interest?

The criminology MSc
Does anyone who has applied MPhil in International Relations got reply or offer from Oxon?
Hi everyone, wanna ask would Oxford strictly adhere to the minimum requirement of GPA e.g. 3.7.
I am student from HK.
My case is I got brilliant grades in all major related courses (A and A-)
but, I did not do well in Sports, which lowered my grades a bit.

Do you think Oxford would turn down anyone's application at the fist sight ? (i.e. GPA is not reached)?:frown:

So anxious
