Did they invite u for an interview as well??

I'm soo excited. I love OII hahah

I'm pretty sure they're be asking standard questions like what do you want to focus on during ur studies, what research did you previously carry out. basically you need to convince them that you want to study there

Yes:smile: I hope I see you in Oxford cafeteria lol
Hopefully:wink:- and we will!:smile::smile:

So what's ur focus area?

I was wondering if anyone has received an interview invitation for MSc Computer Science yet (for those who applied at the second deadline). Thanks

Not here! Applied same time myself. Slightly anxious now.

There's a few of here going for the MSc Comp Sci do let's make a pact to inform each other whenever we hear? :-)

Emailed, was quite unexpected. I applied for Brasenose for the other course I applied for, and I still haven't heard anything from them. Where did you apply?

It sounds like we may have gotten exactly the same questions in that case! I too found them vaguely enjoyable heh. And only moderately challenging fortunately. Bordering on straightforward. Did you feel similarly?

Still nervously waiting here. I'm presuming you've heard nothing back yet either. Which is cool me with -- not an immediate rejection at least!

I wouldn't have said they were straightforward, they took a couple of hours but most of that was fretting about formatting and the like. Certainly not even close to the most challenging problems I've solved. I haven't heard back from them yet either! It's very frustrating. Which college did you choose? I applied to Univ.

I applied for the second deadline, haven't heard anything yet. Doesn't look like anyone who applied for the second one has yet...I'm considering emailing Wendy.

Yeah sorry, straightforward wasn't the right word. I just mean my expectations were that they'd be completely evil, and I was pleasantly surprised when I could do them with some analytic thinking. :-)

I think we must hear by next week now! It's getting late. Hey, at least we haven't been rejected already. Oh and I applied to Balliol. Not sure if it's good/bad/average really. Shouldn't make a diff to acceptance I believe?

Brasenose, and I haven't heard anything from them either, wish they were as swift as Peterhouse!

Heh, yeah, I was expecting something utterly evil as well. The first read through made me nervous but the self-study (maths) I'd done really helped me get the right answers. I enjoyed solving them, they were interesting problems.

College choice makes absolutely no difference to departmental acceptance. If you're accepted by the department, you're guaranteed a place at *a* college, but maybe not your preferred one. Makes things a bit easier!

Where else have you applied?

Yeah, I think I'd still take a place at a lesser college if I'm so lucky as to get accepted!

I applied to just US universities otherwise actually. Wouldn't mind studying abroad. Stanford, Columbia, Harvard, Cornell, CMU. Not much fall-back! Would have applied to my undergrad uni (Imperial College) too, except I've rather had enough of the place hah. How about yourself??

No US colleges here, they're far too expensive sadly. So far I've only applied to Oxford and Cambridge; Imperial, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Edinburgh are on the list though. I've just been so busy with my dissertation and TAing recently that I don't have time to do anything else. That and my referees are really slow. Hopefully I'll get sorted next week.

Yep, probably best to do that! Earlier is better. Some US ones had deadlines of December 10th. :s-smilie:

Only thing that makes US ones affordable for me is that I'm applying to do a PhD following the MS. And it's all basically joint, so I get funded for the whole shebang. :-)

No luck with US though yet. One rejection and no other responses. How's Cambridge, any news there? I don't fancy the ethos or admissions process of that place, so didn't bother!

Heard nothing from Cambridge yet, I'm still "under consideration by the department". They tell you more information about where you are in the process, but getting an application in is tricker - it's much, much more rigid than at Oxford. They don't even ask for a personal statement and there are strict character limits on the form (e.g. x lines of y characters - I can't remember the values ).

The other universities I'm applying to have deadlines much further away, so I'm not in any danger of missing the deadlines. But yeah, I need to get a move on :colondollar:
