Oxford Graduate Application 2012/13

Hi, I applied for MSc computer science this year and completed the additional questionnaire. Can anyone give me the information regarding the next step. I mean in what case they call for interview. Do they interview all applicants or only the suitable ones. Any previous experience sharing will be helpful.

They send out questionnaires to all applicants, but only interview the suitable ones. Interviews vary massively from the more general "why do you want to study at Oxford"/"why do you want to study computer science at this level" (source: TSR and supervisor) to the much more technical ("explain <something>" or "solve <problem>") so it's impossible to give any advice either way. Plus, no-one wants to give anyone an unfair advantage

What I can/will say is that if you do get to interview, you will be pushed beyond your limit. They will pick up on your weaknesses and focus on them; whatever you prepare will not be enough. The best way I can think of to describe it is mental assault.

Edit: I should also mention that just because you got the questionnaire "correct", that's no guarantee of an interview. It appears to be a combination of your answers and your background, where your answers are judged relative to your background.

It depends on the subject and when you applied.

Hi. We do not interview all applicants. If you are called for an interview you will be informed of this within the next 3-6 weeks. If your application is not successful you will also find this out within this time range. Hope that helps. If you've got any questions about the process you are welcome to contact the PG Taught Course Administrator.

Hi,

Have English started sending out offers/rejections?

Thanks.

I've received an e-mail from a university scholarship programme requesting some information regarding the eligibility criteria. Would this imply that I have already been accepted to my academic programme?

I got the same email about the eligibility. I wonder if it is a good sign...

I haven't heard anything. No buzz here or on gradcafe. I think we'll know if others start hearing, as there are a lot of anxious folk doing a lot of refreshing these days.

Not to my knowledge... there's nothing up on gradcafe either. They probably wont come out for at least another week I'd think. I'd still call this early march

I applied for the MSt in the History of Art at the Faculty of History, no (e-)mails regarding the admission as of yet.

Essentially, do they first process the academic application and then send it to a university-wide scholarship programme, or do they process these applications simultaneously?

If you are talking about the Jenkins then I also got that email.

Hi guys

Speaking of financial conditions - how much time is given for applicants to prove they can meet their costs? Is there a general deadline or do periods vary from college to college?

many thanks

I think it depends on the college and department you got accepted into.

My college asked me to prove it by April 1 even though i have time to accept my department offer until late August. But considering the fact that i would not receive all the funding result by April i will ask them to extend it until May/June.

Yes, it is Jenkins.
Did you already receive an offer?

How did you understand that mail; do we just have to confirm our eligibility or supply additional documents proving our affiliation with the required institutions?

I just received the email no offers (yet). I simply confirmed by writing and sent a scanned letter stating that Im currently enrolled at my Uni.
