Has anyone from English Mst 1800-1914 heard anything yet? My friend who applied for the 1550-1800 pathway already received her letter!! Freaking out big-time!!

I applied for that strand and I haven't heard anything yet. It makes me feel better to know you haven't heard anything either

Ah ok thanks for the moral support guys! Seriously, the first two months wait was NO problem as I knew the results for so far away... but this last week has been escalating torture! :frown:
*were so far away even =)
I have been accepted! yaay!

Letter came today.

Regarding funding, for all those who may be interested, I have not been confirmed a studentship, but, I have been told that I am nominated. *Fingers Crossed*

Good luck to everyone else waiting for a reply, I hope it is good news

Today I received this short informal e-mail from the Linguistics department:

"Just a note to say that you have been short-listed for funding for your M Phil.
Not all our proposals are successful but we hope for the best!"

Can anyone shed some light on this? (as in: is it about the AHRC? Any ideas of my chances of getting it?)

Thanks a lot!
English-wise it sounds like it's mostly 1550-1700 people who've heard?

Nice one! What pathway did you apply for?

Got a letter today (dated 15th March) offering me a place on the D.Phil. in English

That's fantastic! I'm just a little jealous.

I don't want to get you excited for no reason, but I think that this means you got it.

out of curiosity, is this for a DPhil? And did you do your masters at Oxford?

I hope so, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up just in case...

Ye, it's for the DPhil in English. I got accepted to the MSt last year, but ended up going to Durham instead.

That IS irritating.

Congrats again you!! Just curious which college did you apply to?

Merton; didn't expect an offer, let alone funding, so didn't really put much thought into it...

How about you?

Congrats! I also requested an email notification... Did the email just come now? Didn't expect the department office to be open this late in a Friday afternoon. !!!

it came at 8:28, so clearly they're working late tonight!

Congratulations! Would you accept this ahead of the LSE offer?

Thank you! Yes, for sure. The program suits me much better, to be honest, being directly related to Russia and yet having an economics component and a possibility for economics path into DPhil. Plus, it is specifically pre- DPhil program.

Quick (possibly stupid) question, if someone is able to answer it:

If my offer letter has the following:

"Furthermore, I am delighted to inform you that the Faculty has forwarded your name for
nomination for an AHRC studentship. You will be informed of the outcome of this application
by 4th April 2012, once the nominations have been reviewed by the Humanities Division."

does this mean I have a pretty good chance of getting it, or do I have to tough out another round of competition?

That's what mine says too, apparently (I'm away from home, so my parents had to read it!). I don't dare celebrate until (unless?) it's confirmed, though. What if something goes wrong! It feels like a rather scary limbo.

I'm an M.St. person, early modern strand.

No this is it! You're in for funding! Unless something major goes wrong, that's all cool. I had a phone call with the Director of Grad studies today

 I just read back and saw your posts - huge congratulations on your scholarship! Do you think you will end up going to Oxford, or do the other options tempt you too?
Hey all

Just received an offer for the Masters in Comparative Social Policy... Does anyone know what typical offers are!? I don't think I can wait two weeks for a letter to come through!!!!

Shed some light guys!
