I just turned 18 and I don't have a current account. How do I go about opening a current account? I don't mind which Bank it is but the ones on my local high street are Barclays, HSBC, Santander, NatWest, Metrobank and TSB

Just go into a local branch and say you want to open an account. You'll need some ID (use the websites to find out what is required, thought usually a passport and driving licence for address is fine)

So long as the application is straightforward and there's no information or checks they need to do, if you go on Monday (maybe you should go in on Saturday because you might need to make an appointment for Monday) you should be able to have the account open by the end of the week, though you probably won't have received the debit card and chequebook by then.
