    Hello,

How do you apply for a student loan? One where you pay back after you start earning £21,000? Only looking to cover the cost of the course.

I have been looking online but not sure what I should be applying for. I need one for about 17K for this May.

How do they work? Do they pay the course off for you then you pay back once you have started earning £21,000? And is that interest free?

    Thanks

    Robert

That's for Srudent Finance, lots of info there.
In short: yes, you can get a loan to cover your tuition fees, you can also get maintenance loans which come in parts for cost of living.

Sadly they are not interest free but of course if you don't earn enough you won't pay it back.

What are you studying and where does the 17k come from? An undergrad course?

Studying my LLB online. It's 18k over instruments or 16k something if you pay up front so looking to try save money plus not having to pay back till I earn 21k. I'm doing it online therefore the maintenance will not be required.

I see.. I have never come across a situation where someone wants a loan to pay that amount up front so I'm not sure, but contacting student finance directly may be worth a shot. Or somewhere private but that could be much more expensive...

Just decide whether it's worth paying up front to save that amount of money
