    How many organic compounds will be produced of 3-methyl-pentan-3-ol is heated with concentrated sulfuric acid?
    I'm unsure whether you include the E/Z isomers and whether you can remove the hydrogen from the adjacent methyl group carbon to form HHC=C(C2h5)2
    The answer is supposed to be 2.

    Usually, if you have to include the stereoisomers you'll be specifically asked for them.

    Yes, you can remove the hydrogen from the adjacent methyl group, or from the adjacent ethyl group to give a total of 2 possible organic compounds.

    I don't think you've copied the Q word-for-word, the word "of" before the compound's name isn't right.

    Anyhoo, three is the best answer as there are three "organic compounds", the E and Z forms are different.
