    Hi,

I have been invited for an applicant day in March for Leeds uni and I have applied for electronics and renewable energy systems. As I am studying a BTEC qualification in engineering I'm required to take a maths diagnostic - does anyone have any information on this? How hard is it, what is the pass rate? I've heard some people say it's just to see where you're at and you don't have to actually pass, anyone know if this is true?

They're usually a mix of GCSE and AS level maths, pass rates will be close to 90%+ and if you fail it's more about knowing who needs extra help with their maths than something that will prevent you from starting the degree.

Thanks! Sorry so just to clarify, failing this test won't determine whether I get an offer or not? Thanks for your help!

I don't know about Leeds specifically, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to set your own maths test as an entry requirement when they can just ask for A level maths or GCSE maths or the maths module within your BTEC. So I assume it would be the same as everywhere else where it won't affect your offer.
