So I'm in a private school doing my As levels again. The problem is that the school won't take the 2017 paper exam for biology AS from the actual exam board, they'll make up their own paper. They will only give you both AS and A2 papers from the exam board if you're in year 13. Now I want to do the actual exam paper for As even though it won't count for next year as for biology I'll be forced to sit both AS/AS in year 13. I just think for experience and for my future predicted grades it will be of benefit
My exam board for biology is SNAB (Edexcel) A and I really want to just sit the AS paper in an exam centre separately from the A2 paper. Is this possible?
Can I sit As exams for biology separately from A2 biology as a private candidate? Watch

Yes it is possible but what your school is doing is what most schools are doing - not very many are going to the expense of entering students for AS exams when they do not contribute to the A level result the following year. You would need to find a centre willing to accept you as a private candidate. The exam board fee is around £50 but expect to pay a lot more as they will need to cover their admin and invigilation costs. The entry deadline is half term so you will need to get a move on.
((Stop thinking about A2 (the second year of modular A levels), the concept does not apply to reformed A levels where there are no such things as A2 exams. There are AS levels and A levels.)
