    Hi,

First year Kingston Uni studying Biomed. I haven't made many friends there and was wondering if anyone else is in the same situation and would like to become friends? I'm a girl and 20. Found it a bit awkward to socialise at first and then found people already developed groups

I will be starting university at Kingston in September as well! I'm really shy myself, and even though it's still a while to September I have been doing a bit of 'research' as it were. Such as watching a few Youtube videos where people talked about their own University experiences - I definitely recommend it by the way! Even if the people haven't been talking about their experiences at Kingston, some of them have given really good help and advice.

I think it's important to remember that everyone is going to be pretty much in the same boat. There's going to be so many new people, and as frightening as that may be, a lot of people are going to be wanting to make friends. As long as we go into it positively, and make an effort to make friends, it should work out. I've spoken to a few people who are part of Societies at Kingston, and they've all said their society does a lot of events to allow people to get involved and make friends. So definitely have a look at what Societies Kingston has to offer and get involved! Also nearer the time there'll probably be official Facebook groups and stuff, and I've heard a lot of people recommend joining them to meet new people.

Still, saying that. I'm still quite nervous about the whole idea! What course is it you're going to be doing? I'll be doing Journalism. You're always welcome to send me a message or whatever to chat!

    Hello all,

Since you are all going to the same university and hoping to make more friends, why not add each other's whats app now and start the friendship. I had same problem as you guys when I started my first year in a university, and now I have a lot of friends. Good luck!

Hello there everyone! I'm about to finish my first year at KU.
I did art and design before and I study animation and Japanese now.

I would love to meet new people and make friends though as everyone seems busy or lazy nowadays and people don't even want to go out (which is sad).

If there's anyone interested in meeting up this week or any time, PM me
I've got all the time in the world until September! ^^'

I had the exact same problem when I was an undergraduate at Kingston! Being introverted and slightly socially anxious, I found everybody easily made their own cliques in halls/my course whereas I didn't!
Now I'm about to study an MA in Magazine Journalism again at Kingston Uni and don't want a repeat of my lonely student years as an undergraduate! So if anyone (especially other fellow postgrads) are interested in meeting up/making a new friend, don't be afraid to PM me
